Northrop Grumman, Uruguay to Launch IP-Based Air Traffic System
Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems said it delivered the first integrated nationwide Internet Protocol (IP)-based air traffic management (ATM) system to provide voice communications for all aircraft operating in Urugay.
Park Air Systems—Northrop Grumman’s European ATM subsidiary—said Uruguay is the first country to offer a nationwide IP system. A total of 86 radios have been provided across eight sites including Carrasco, Colonia, Cardona, Salto, Tacuarembo, Melo, Santa Clara and San Antonio, the company said.
The Direccion Nacional de Aviacion Civil e Infraestructura Aeronautica (DINACIA) interconnected the sites with an IP network, which will provide improved performance and savings for telecommunications expenditure in Uruguay, according to Northrop Grumman.
