Lufthansa kjøper fly

Lufthansa announces plans to buy 108 aircraft

Lufthansa is considering a fleet expansion and renewal plan that includes purchasing 108 aircraft at a value of €9bn ($12bn).

The airline said the order would comprise both Boeing and Airbus aircraft, including eight long-range and 100 short and medium-range aircraft, and that it has already been in discussions with both manufacturers.

However, it added that the deal is still subject to approval by Lufthansa's supervisory board.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2015 and to continue until 2025. By the end of 2025, the group expects to take delivery of 239 aircraft with an order volume of €23bn ($31bn), based on list prices.

The airline said the orders will be funded from the group's own assets or from external financial resources, though did not disclose a financier.
