Honda Debuts New Jet at Oshkosh

Two of Honda Aircraft's new light jets made their first public appearance Monday with a flight demonstration at the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) AirVenture Oshkosh 2013 show.

The two jets are the third and fourth "FAA-conforming models" from Honda, as the N.C.-based manufacturer has produced six HondaJets since 2010, four flight test and two structural test aircraft, all of which are being used for testing to meet FAA certification requirements.

“EAA AirVenture Oshkosh has special significance for me. This event is where I introduced the proof-of-concept HondaJet to the world for the very first time. It was truly the beginning of Honda’s exciting venture into aviation,” said Michimasa Fujino, president and CEO of Honda Aircraft.

HondaJet seats up to five passengers, and features composite fuselage and Over-The-Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) configuration.  In May the fifth FAA-conforming HondaJet completed its first flight, climbing to 12,000 feet and reaching a top speed of 300 knots.

The company is targeting FAA certification of the $4.5 million HondaJet by the end of 2014
