KLM this week started operations with the first of its Boeing 777-
200s to get its new World Business and Economy cabins –
following on from the same upgrade to its 747-400 fleet.

The renovation of all 15 Boeing 777-200s will be complete by the
end of 2015, and will be followed by KLM’s 10 777-300s.
The economy cabin, pictured here, was designed by Hella
Jongerius and features more legroom and a whole new inflight
entertainment system featuring a larger 9-inch, HD-quality
touchscreen offering access to more than 150 movies and 200
TV shows, interactive 3D cards and a “seat chat” app that
allows travellers to communicate with passengers who are seated
elsewhere in the cabin.

And, adds KLM, the economy seats feature power outlets – as
well as being “the lightest in their class”.
Business class passengers needn’t be too jealous, though – up
front, there are new full-flat seats and “various other smart design
elements ensure maximum privacy while sleeping or working”
